Happy Sunday!
Do you also believe water is soothing?
My husband and I took our camp chairs down to a sandy flat beside the river recently and immersed ourselves in the tranquility of nature.
I soaked up all the goodness of the cooler morning, the breeze, blue skies, sun and the gentle lapping of the river water on the bank.
We often walk in this area in the mornings, and I love seeing the gum trees and the surrounding nature. It’s such a pretty place!
I invite you to join me in this experience, imagine your feet in the water warmed by the sun, witness the wind moving through the reeds and dappled sunlight underneath the mighty gum trees.
I find water healing. The sound of water brings me a sense of peace and calm. My mind is quiet and I’m simply aware of the beauty around me.
And before we get started, I’d like to introduce… Choose your own adventure!

Let’s take a wander through a wondrous forest and marvel at the dew-and moss-covered leaves, and then, read through some wise reminders from a newly 40-year-old. And a case for why you should become prone to amazement.
A beautiful illustrated essay on the love of coffee, and how it brings meaning to our lives. A lovely quote on getting older and passing on your wisdom, and a simple tip for banishing the ‘Sunday Scaries’ once and for all!
This is how they keep their velvet-making techniques alive. A little childhood nostalgia for you, and yet more considerations for your foodie bucket list!

Take a wander through a wondrous forest.
shares a beautiful essay (accompanied by stunning photos) on her love for the mossy corners of a forest. The delicate closeup shots of moss-covered branches and leaves are lovely. I’m always amazed how much beauty there is in such a small thing.
As she says:
“You will not hear many complaints from me about winter; I have learned to find beauty in the white landscape and snow-caked trees, to embrace the deep rest and hibernation that the rest of nature enters during these months.
But my heart will always come alive when surrounded by the deep green of a snowless forest. My inspiration will soar when surrounded by a forest draped in moss. My smiles come a little easier, my steps a little lighter.
I will always have a heart of green.”
Doesn’t everyone love thoughtful life advice?
Now
has turned 40 (a happy belated birthday to her), she shares the most valuable things she’s learned in her lifetime. As she begins with:
“Today I’m grounded myself in the here and now with 40 reminders—thoughts distilled from 10 years of being levelled and lifted through notes and words.”
My favorite pieces of advice would have to be these.
“Ageing is a gift of unparalleled wisdom and wonder.”
“Water is healing. It shifts and shapes the land, and I believe it can shift and shape us, too.”
“We have the power to shape our own story.”

This is why you should become prone to amazement.
expounds the importance of cultivating amazement in your life, accompanied by beautiful nature photography.I love the writing’s wry sense of humor and personal touches. Such a lovely essay about a thing that’s important to keep in mind!
On a side note, did you know maple trees bloom with flowers? I didn’t! Have a look at the post and see for yourself.
For the love of coffee.
My eldest son introduced me to
’s beautiful hand-painted essays, and I loved her one about her travels and her favorite teas. Her watercolor and pen drawings are so detailed and calming to look at.
She’s just finished another, about her love for coffee, something I can appreciate!
As she said,
“Today, I’m thrilled to say we’ve made it to the final installment of “Home is a Mug of Coffee.” I always like to end a new essay series by publishing the full story in one post, to make it easier to share or to read in one sitting (with your favorite hot drink by your side, of course).”
So take her advice and brew yourself a hot cup of coffee (or tea) to drink while you read it.
