Toffee: ’s Dog
He's a Border Collie with the biggest, fluffiest coat ever, and he's been with us since he was in his mom's belly.
He was born on the side of the road in the middle of the mountains, mid May 2014, because Chili went into labor in a car ride.
So he's been lucky, I think, since he has always lived with his mom until she passed away, and has known us since he was born.
This may have influenced his character: very resolved and confident, even fearless, but also loving and sweet.
The smartest dog I've ever known, but I guess everyone says the same.
Toffee loves water and swimming, running in the rain, chasing birds as if they were sheep, but also loves cuddling in the sofa.
He's convinced he's still a small baby, because no matter how full the sofa is, he'll try to hop and nestle next (or on top) of the human(s) sitting down.
He's not fussy with his food, but is always ready for a treat. He loves eating bread and apple peels. How he loves apple peels!
He does a few tricks, like giving a paw, then the other paw, lying down and rolling, and playing dead.
I always take him for a walk after dinner, and he'll sit in front of me, with "the stare", waiting for me to get up and go. I move a muscle and he goes straight to the door, even if it's pouring outside.
He's a great companion and it's hard to imagine life without him by our side.
