Celebrating finished objects!
Accomplishment and contentment! But... what's next?
INSIDE: that’s a wrap on the flow tee, new skills unlocked, deciding what to make next + celebrating our accomplishments.
Woohoo! My Flow Tee is finished and it feels so good to wear it. The sleeves were easy enough to complete.
The held stitches were placed back on the needles and the underarm stitches picked up and knitted. Then 9 rows of K1 tbl, P1 tbl ribbing and they were done :)
The yoke section made up the rest of the sleeve so I was finished quicker than I was anticipating.
Can I just take a moment for the gratitude that I’ve not had to knit too many P2 Tog TBL (Purl 2 together through the back loop)? Good grief! That’s a tricky little stitch to not muck up!
I used the magic loop method for the sleeves. This works well once I get going. I find the first couple of rows a little fiddly. Then I get into a rhythm & my fingers remember what’s what. :)
Do you find the second sleeve is always much easier than the first?
It’s like when you travel to an unknown destination and it seems to take forever but on the way back it seems faster!
I was reflecting on how many weeks I’ve been working on this project. I was surprised to find I started in early December and finished it just the other day! Time has flown by. I was determined to complete it so I could make the most out of the hot weather.
I’m in love with the yoke, it’s created such a stunning visual. The organic cotton yarn feels great against my skin and the stitch definition turned out well!
After washing and blocking it, I gave my tee a light press with a cool iron.
Unlike my green milk cotton Tara Top, I’ve chosen not to put the Flow Tee in the washing machine. Despite the yarn label saying you can machine wash it on up to 40° Celsius, I'll stick to handwashing! I’m concerned agitation might affect the cable yoke.
It’s a loose fit, which is the pattern’s intention, and it’s so comfortable. Ooooh and I'm thrilled with how the color, Bordeaux, looks on me. 😊
I’ve never worn this color before and it’s so good to have a knitted garment you know suits you in both shape and color.
It’ll be a favorite!
Things I’ve learned in this project:
How to knit reverse stockinette stitch on the wrong side when knitting in the round.
Picking up underarm stitches for reverse stockinette on the wrong side.
P2 tog tbl (decrease stitch).
Short rows using Wrap & Turn without concealing the wraps.
Practicing knitting without looking.
What’s next?
A few things! I'm always looking to learn and try new skills in my knitting, so having a few projects on the go is a great way to do that.
Here's what I'm looking at making:
I bought
’s lovely Low Key Scarf pattern. All I need now are some yarns I’d like to knit with. Any suggestions?I’m hankering to create another pair of socks. It's been a long time since my last sock project! (My Fairy Maiden ones.)
I’m also looking for a beautiful baby blanket pattern.
My Favorite Things Knitwear is releasing the Norma Sweater soon. I'm super keen!
And another question for you: Do you wear your finished object for days afterwards? I certainly do!

Mystery Quote Of The Week
“Remember the “three feet rule”, which is that most of your work will only be viewed from at least three feet (a meter) away. We tend to be very hard on ourselves and to point out our own “mistakes” but in reality, many of them aren’t visible to anyone else.”
Who said this? Comment or press reply! No cheating! 😊

Last week’s answer was… Elizabeth Zimmermann!
Congratulations to Tay’s Substack for being correct!

Before you go…
Your tee is beautiful and you look stunning in it! It seems like you just started it!
I don’t know who said the quote about the three feet but I love it!
A gansey is also known as a guernsey is a sweater typically worn by fishermen from the islands around Britain and up the coast (I think). They have a unique construction that allows for arms movements , they are textured and some knitted knit their initials on the bottom.
I have been reading Beth Brown Reinsel’s book. The little sample sweater is in my to-do list!!
Your tee turned out absolutely fabulous. The color looks beautiful on you. And I love how you allow some learning and experimentation with every project and the fact that you reflect on it as well. Thank you so much for the support Jodie! I can't wait to see what your choices will be for Low Key Scarf. I hope you find the knit enjoyable.
